Local law enforcement agencies have placed all local schools on secure as a precautionary measure due to a threat. More details will be shared as they become available. Parents, please avoid going to school as no students are being released at this time. LISD is taking precautionary measures to keep students safe.

Please be reminded that there will be no classes for LISD students on Monday, October 14, 2024, as this a Staff Development Day for LISD employees. Classes for all students will resume on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, with a regular schedule including transportation, hot meals, instruction, and extracurricular activities. Bottled water will be distributed to every student in every classroom as well as made available to all District staff. Meanwhile, we do ask that you continue to take precautionary measures and follow recommended safety standards as recommended by the City of Laredo while local authorities work closely with state health and environmental agencies to address the situation. Due to a boil water notice issued by the City of Laredo late Thursday evening, Laredo ISD is cancelling classes at all of its campuses on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Classes for LISD are tentatively planned to resume for all students on Tuesday, October 15, as Monday, October 14, is a Staff Development Day for all LISD employees. Therefore there will be no classes for LISD students on Monday, October 14.
LISD will closely monitor the situation with city officials and provide additional updates regarding next week’s operations on LISD’s social media.

Sanchez-Ochoa Elementary School hosted a Patriot Day Ceremony in memory of the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. During the ceremony student heard messages from LISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Rios and LISD Police Chief Doreen Hale. The students also had the opportunity to visit with first responders and ask questions about being a police officer or fire fighter.
